Secretaries Day is also known as Professional Secretaries Week
which has recently redesigned to include all office employees and
in doing so can also be referred to as Administrative professional
week. The first National Secretaries Day was held in 1952 and was
sponsored by the Administrative Professionals Week Committee. It
is a common misconception that the holiday was started through organizations
affiliated with the floral industry but the actual intent of the
holiday was created to commemorate the greatly appreciated work
of office employees to businesses and agencies and similarly to
expand recognition of the field in students interested in the field.
Secretaries Day has become widely accepted and appreciated by both
employee and employers. The common goals of the organization that
started Secretaries Day were as follows: to increase awareness in
the field, to increase the professional image, to persuade others
to pursue the field of administration, and to endorse the quality
of continuing education in professional development. So who exactly
can be considered for this special day of recognition that we used
to call Secretary Day?
The change to Administrative Professional vastly broadened the scope
for those that qualify but largely it is anyone who you appreciate
in your office or administrative people that make your life easier.
As an employer, one of the easiest ways to maintain a healthy working
atmosphere is to show your appreciation to those that make their
daily duty tasks Click here
